It’s baseball season, and we’ve got just the event to get you in the mood! Eddie Frierson will perform a one-man show based on the life of Christy Mathewson, Baseball Hall-of-Famer, war hero, and advisor to presidents.

The play is open to all, however, we recommend it for children nine and older (although younger with a sincere love for baseball should enjoy it). There will be special activities during the play for children under age nine.

There is no charge for admission. A freewill offering will be taken with all proceeds going to “Family Promise of Santa Clarita,” a temporary housing program for homeless families in our community.

To add to the fun, we’re having a “Tailgate Party” in our parking lot starting at 5:30 pm. There will be food – hotdogs, of course – games, music and a drawing for what else…..baseball game tickets! There will be a $3.00 cost for food which includes a hotdog, chips and drink.

We encourage you to invite your friends and neighbors who don’t have a church home to this great event. If you do bring a guest, their food ticket cost is on us.

Tickets (whether you attend the tailgate party or not) are required, so be sure to pick yours up during coffee fellowship or through the church office. Don’t delay – we’re planning on a full house!

* To honor Patricia Hayes and her life of service to the community, her friends and family have established a scholarship fund to distribute awards annually to college bound high school seniors who have demonstrated extraordinary compassion and service to others. To most who knew her and continue to remember her kindness and million dollar smile, ‘Pat’ was “Ma Hayes.” She was (and always will be) Eddie Frierson’s “West Coast Mom.” Her birthday, August 12th, is shared with Christy Mathewson and she was forever an enthusiastic supporter of “MATTY.” She was one of those rare individuals who touched every life she ever crossed in a positive manner. She was also the first to suggest using Christy Mathewson and this wonderful show to raise funds for those less fortunate (HIS House). Help us honor her by enjoying a terrific evening of theatre with all proceeds donated in memory of one of the great friends, wives, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts … one of the great ladies of our time, Pat Hayes.
